ALA, DeCA ‘Come Home To Savings’ Promo ‘On Track’

  • WASHINGTON

The customer-centric “Come Home to Savings!” joint industry promotion, sponsored by the American Logistics Association (ALA) and fully supported by the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA), is “on track,” and is laser-focused on getting industry’s attention.

So says Christine Roussey, principal, Retail Client Solutions for IRI (Empower IT) and ALA board member, and member of the Commissary Council in its subcommittee on Patron Engagement.

“ALA is working with DeCA to have a successful joint promotion and bring patrons to commissaries —#ComeHomeToSavings,” she noted.

The National ALA is sponsoring a contest to award 10 authorized patrons that shopped a worldwide commissary in the month of August a $500 shopping spree given in commissary gift cards.

SPECIAL DAY

Roussey said the ALA is also planning an “In-Store Excitement Day” on Aug, 14 in CONUS commissaries, “distributing Industry-donated swag, coupons, samples, gift cards, etc.”

To get in on the excitement, industry can contact Amanda Herold by July 9 (aherold@eurpac.com) with respective donation lists for the “In-Store Excitement Day.”

Roussey warned that the donations are an absolute necessity to this promotion. “We won’t be able to allocate items to all CONUS commissaries without enough donations,” she stated.

In addition, “We are also asking Industry to reach out to their third-party media partners on how you can leverage the theme and promote ALA’s contest to assist in our mission to attract shoppers.”

INDUSTRY PARTICIPATION

The executive noted that industry participation — participation includes donations for “In-Store Excitement Day” and/or promotion of the contest —is absolutely necessary for the promotion to reach its goals.

Participating companies will have their logo included on the contest landing/registration page.
