ALA's Pledge To Joining Forces

ALA Member Companies Surpass 25,000 Goal
Thank you to all members of the American Logistics Association (ALA). We achieved our goal! 25,375 veterans and military spouses have been hired under the Joining Forces Initiative, an initiative by The First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden's with a call to action for American companies to hire veterans and military spouses. It began in October 2011, when the President and the First Lady of the United States launched the American Logistics Association's pledge for the hiring of veterans and military spouses under the Joining Forces Initiative with a ceremony at Langley Air Force Base. ALA's member companies and associations pledged to hire 25,000 veterans and military spouses.

ALA and it's members are proud to be a part of this important initiative for our military who have served our country and we honored them with our members pledging to hire veterans and military spouses.

To date 290,000 veterans and military spouses have been hired since the launch of Joining Forces by companies all across America. These same companies have made further commitments to hire an additional 435,000 veterans and military spouses by 2018.

About Joining Forces
The First Lady and Dr. Biden met with military families, learned about their successes and challenges, and made it their priority to support them. Joining Forces is a comprehensive national initiative to mobilize all sectors of society to give our service members and their families the opportunities and support they have earned. In many cases, military spouses move from one community to another when their spouses are assigned to new duty stations. These transfers can make it very difficult for spouses to continue with their careers or to find similar jobs in new locations.
In this ongoing effort, they are highlighting issues that are of special importance to the military families they have met with across the country, including the areas of employment, education, and wellness. And this is where the American Logistics Association comes in. ALA member companies pledged to hire 25,000 veterans and military family members between in 2012 and 2013. ALA's Member companies successfully hired more than 25,000 as of December 2013.
