Wednesday, July 8 An afternoon joint meeting with industry and DeCA. ALA has arranged for a professional speaker to tell us about the generational influences and how to understand and market to each. That evening there will be a great Ice Breaker and many opportunities to network with the Region staff, CONUS Zone Managers and CONUS Store Directors. Thursday, July 9 The ALA Southwest Chapter is arranging golf (best ball tournament) or bowling for all participants. For details on these events and to register for them, please download the Chapter Events Form below. The afternoon will be joint DeCA and Industry sessions where updates from the DeCA Director & CEO, the Acting Western Pacific Region Director and others will be presented. That evening will be an ALA sponsored evening of activities and great networking opportunities.
Industry Awards/Recognition Presentations Industry manufacturers/brokers that have region or store level awards they would like to present need to contact Russ Moffett at rmoffett@ala-national.org. He will assist you in arranging a presentation. This would be a great opportunity to recognize the region and/or store director for support of your programs and possibly garner interest for future program support. Hotel Information Pointe Hilton, Squaw Peak Resort in Phoenix, Arizona is the hotel for this meeting. The Pointe Hilton, Squaw Peak is located at 7677 North 16th Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85020. The Pointe Hilton is offering a discounted group rate of $96 single or double, plus tax. Type your question and ALA will pass to Mr. Milks for his consideration of addressing during his presentation. Note that all questions received will be passed to Mr. Milks without any identification to who submitted the question.
HEALTH & WELLNESS CHECK UP The ALA European Chapter has arranged to have the military Heidelberg Hospital Wellness Clinic to provide free wellness checks each morning for conference attendees. A good opportunity for all to get a health check up. Tuesday, July 28 DeCA only meetings during the day. But, there are opportunities for industry to make appointments with Steve Armbruster, the Chief of Marketing. These appointments will be allowed for industry to meet with Steve to discuss their 6 month and one year plans. He wants to know what new items are coming out so the Region can plan for them. He also wants to know about new trends which will be taking place. Mr. Milks believes that if he and his Chief of Marketing know what’s coming they can get it over to Europe faster. Mr. Milks wants to be more proactive and not reactive. Telling Steve Armbruster in advance will help them better support their customers and manufacturers. These appointments are not for a sales pitch or a business review. DeCA Europe wants the appointments to educate them on what is happening in your company or industry which they then can plan for. Helping to improve their sales and marketing will improve yours. In the evening there will be a VIP Sponsors Reception and then a “Meet the Buyers” Ice-Breaker. Wednesday, July 29 This will be a DeCA and Industry joint meeting day. Presentations will be made by the DeCA Director & CEO, The European Director, the DeCA Senior Enlisted Advisor, the DeCA Dietician, the European Region Home Economist, a great presentation by an ALA speaker on The Generational Imperative, and a MBU Update. That evening, MDV Nash Finch will have a BBQ reception. Thursday, July 30 In the morning there will be joint DeCA and Industry meetings and briefings. In the afternoon there will be DeCA only meetings and also an ALA National & European Chapter meeting. In the evening there will be a social hour and a Banquet Dinner with Awards Presentations.
