Plan early! This year’s event will take many pressing issues head-on including:
-
The increasing budget deficit and impact on Federal and Defense, Veterans, and Homeland Security spending levels.
-
Discussions of Administration and Congressional priorities including increased emphasis on and measures being taken to control deficit spending.
-
Impact of Health Care reform, financial reform and other major Congressional and Executive Branch initiatives on military resale.
-
Presentations by key Congressional members and staff.
-
Presentations by top military and civilian leaders of the Administration and the Pentagon.
-
Topic specific-presentations and discussions on vital issues including the 3 percent hold back, erroneous payments executive action and legislation, credit card reform and interchange fees, patronage expansion, base access, contracting out, base closure and deployment impact on resale and MWR programs.
The forum allows an opportunity to express our views to key Congressional and Executive branch leaders. Attendees will have an opportunity to visit with their congressional representatives and ALA will assist in setting up these sessions.
Hotel Information:
The Congressional and Government Affairs Caucus takes place on Capitol Hill, in the Rayburn House Office Building. No hotel is specifically associated with this event. However, a list of hotels in the Capitol Hill area can be downloaded below.
Non-Member Opportunity to Attend
This year the ALA is offering a unique partnership opportunity to attract new members and demonstrate the benefits of the association. We are allowing non-member companies to attend one of our key business meetings held between now and the end of June with the payment of the registration fee and an additional premium that can be applied to the 2010/2011 membership dues if the company applies for membership prior to June 30, 2010. The 2010 Congressional and Government Relations Forum is one of the qualifying meetings! To participate in this program, download the Non-Member Registration form below. Rules and restrictions apply, and are detailed on the registration form. This program presents a great opportunity to learn first-hand about military resale industry; experience the partnership opportunities membership in the association provides; and see the impact the association has on Capitol Hill.
