    About ALA

    The only organization dedicated exclusively to the promotion, protection, and improvement of the Military Resale and MWR Industries

    The Mission of the American Logistics Association is to promote, protect, and enhance the military resale and quality of life benefits on behalf of our members and the military community.


    ALA FUNCTIONS

    • To be proactive in effecting changes and improvements that will increase members' sales and lower members' costs.
    • To be cognizant of, understand and proactively influence legislation that may affect the military resale environment.
    • To be cognizant of, understand and proactively influence initiatives being taken by the military resale systems that may affect the industry and the marketplace.
    • To establish position on issues and lobby on behalf of the membership and military resale systems.
    • To be the prime resource for the military resale systems industry, Congress and other government agencies and departments on all matters pertaining to the industry.
    • To provide a communications network to keep industry members and military informed on a timely basis on all issues of interest, import and concern.
    • To conduct meetings that provide industry members, the military resale systems, Congress and other government agencies and departments a forum for information exchange and problem resolution.

    GENERAL OBJECTIVES

    Member Services
    To provide programs and services that enable members, including chapters, to operate effectively and efficiently.

    Membership Scope
    To expand ALA's membership to encompass all facets of industry selling to the military marketplace.

    Education and Training
    To further improve the value of ALA to the military resale system and members; be a catalyst and leader in training and education about subjects that enhance sales, customer services and cost control.

    Research and Information
    To actively and in a timely manner collect, interpret, and disseminate information of issues and trends vital to members, business success.


    THE ASSOCIATION
    Offers members who supply goods and services to the military resale system and MWR a wide variety of business resources and services. Here are some examples:

    • Provides a setting where industry and government personnel may meet to address policy and industry issues.
    • Provides analytic exchange and commissary sales reports by store, by region, by agency, all invaluable tools for budget planning and market forecasting.
    • Produces definitive research on topics ranging from patron demographics to marketing and merchandising techniques.
    • Publishes directories of ALA member manufacturers, brokers, distributors, and media, providing high-profile exposure to clients.
